On August 12, 2025, Ganfeng Lithium announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ganfeng International, and Lithium Argentina AG (“LAR”) plan to consolidate three lithium salt lake projects into their joint venture, Millennial Lithium Corp. (“Millennial”). The projects include the fully-owned PPG lithium salt lake project by Ganfeng, the jointly-held PG project (Ganfeng holds 14.89%, LAR holds 85.11%), and the Puna project (Ganfeng holds 35%, LAR holds 65%). After integration, these projects will be collectively referred to as the “PPGS Lithium Salt Lake Project.”

Following the integration, Ganfeng International will hold a 67% stake in Millennial, while LAR will retain the remaining 33%. As part of the transaction, Ganfeng will provide LAR with financial support of up to $130 million to fund its capital requirements and project development.

According to the announcement, the consolidated PPGS project will adopt an advanced direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology and will be developed in three phases. Upon completion, it is expected to have a total annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE), positioning it as one of the world’s largest lithium salt lake extraction projects.
