On July 1, 2026, BYD Energy announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Greenvolt Power to jointly develop the Siedlce energy storage project in Poland. With a total capacity of 600 MW/2.4 GWh, the project will become the largest battery energy storage facility in Poland upon completion and one of the largest such facilities in Europe.
The Siedlce project is scheduled to break ground in the third quarter of 2026 and is expected to enter commercial operation by the end of 2027. The project has already secured revenue guarantees under Poland’s capacity market mechanism.
BYD Energy will supply the project with its Haohan energy storage system, featuring the world’s largest dedicated blade battery for energy storage, with a capacity of 2,710Ah. The system’s smallest unit delivers 14.5MWh, achieving a 10 MWh equivalent in a standard 20-foot container. With fewer containers and a smaller footprint, the system will significantly reduce land and construction costs for the Siedlce project.
This marks the second collaboration between BYD Energy and Greenvolt Power in Poland. In March 2025, the two companies signed an agreement to jointly develop two storage projects in Poland — Turosn Koscielna (200 MW/800 MWh) and Nowa Wies Elcka (200 MW/800 MWh) — bringing their cumulative cooperative capacity to 1.6 GWh. In June 2026, they also commissioned a 99.8 MW storage facility in Hungary.
João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, stated, “Energy storage systems are the core pillar for building a more resilient and flexible energy framework, while also enabling the continued growth of renewable energy.”
Yin Xueqin, General Manager of BYD Energy Storage and New Battery Division, commented: “The Siedlce project marks a new milestone in our partnership. Being part of this landmark project fully demonstrates that BYD Energy’s technical strength and comprehensive capabilities have gained broad industry recognition.”
The signing comes as European countries accelerate their energy storage deployment. In June 2026, 22 EU member states pledged to add 45 GW of storage capacity by 2028. With its product- centric approach, BYD Energy continues to deepen its presence in Europe and global markets, delivering more efficient and safer storage solutions and working with partners to drive the worldwide green energy transition.
