Recently, the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the “CABIA”) released China’s power battery installation data for July 2025 and the January–July period.
Installation Capacity:
In July, China’s power battery installations reached 55.9 GWh, reflecting a 4.0% month-on-month decrease but a 34.3% year-on-year increase. Among these, ternary battery installations accounted for 10.9 GWh, representing 19.6% of the total installations. This marked a 1.9% month-on-month increase yet a 3.8% year-on-year decrease. Meanwhile, LFP battery installations reached 44.9 GWh, making up 80.4% of the total. This represented a 5.3% month-on-month decrease but a significant 49.0% year-on-year increase.

From January to July, cumulative power battery installations in China amounted to 355.4 GWh, showing a 45.1% year-on-year growth. Among these, cumulative ternary battery installations totaled 66.5 GWh, accounting for 18.7% of the total installations and reflecting a 9.7% year-on-year decrease. Cumulative LFP battery installations reached 288.9 GWh, constituting 81.3% of the total and marking a substantial 68.8% year-on-year increase.
