On August, SNE Research released data showing that global demand for electric vehicle (EV) power batteries reached 364.6GWh in the first half of this year, marking a 22.3% year-on-year increase.
In terms of market share, CATL took the first place with a staggering 137.7 GWh of battery installed capacity in the first half of the year, capturing 37.8% of the market and maintaining its global lead over other brands.
BYD followed closely behind with 57.5 GWh installed, holding a market share of 15.8% and securing the second spot on the list. Notably, BYD’s vehicles are mostly equipped with their own branded batteries. This means that the battery installed capacity of BYD’s vehicle models has occupied the second place in the world’s power batteries, highlighting BYD’s leading position in the new energy market.

LG Energy Solutions and SK On ranked third and fourth, with market shares of 12.9% and 4.8%, respectively.
In fifth place was CALB, which installed 16.7 GWh of batteries in the first half of the year, capturing 4.6% of the global market and standing as the third-largest EV battery supplier in China.
Sixth and seventh places were held by Samsung SDI and Panasonic, and both of them mainly supply brands such as BMW, Audi, and Tesla.
