On September 10, Israeli battery technology company StoreDot announced that its prismatic battery can charge from 10% to 80% within 10 minutes without compromising battery health or range, which addresses the challenge of charging speed. It is reported that its XFC battery technology utilizes silicon-based anode materials.
Testing results from automotive parts manufacturer Flex-N-Gate have proven that its prismatic battery technology can be produced on a large scale. The tested sample has a capacity of 80Ah, providing experience for the later development of a 160Ah battery.
In March this year, StoreDot signed a strategic cooperation agreement with EVE Energy to fully integrate resources and technical advantages from both sides, accelerating the large-scale production of safe “extreme fast-charging (XFC) batteries.” Currently, the two parties have completed joint research and development, sample testing, and achieved small-scale production.
In May this year, StoreDot successfully achieved a 10-minute super fast charge from 10% to 80% in a non-laboratory environment on Polestar 5 prototypes from Polestar. The 77 kWh (with potential future expansion to at least 100 kWh) battery pack equipped with the super fast-charging technology can add 320 kilometers of range to a mid-sized electric vehicle in just 10 minutes.
StoreDot’s strategic investors and partners include BP, Daimler, VinFast, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Ola Electric, Samsung, TDK, and its manufacturing partner, EVE Energy.
