On April 25, 2025, SK On announced it has been chosen as the battery supplier for American electric vehicle startup Slate.
Under the agreement, SK On will supply approximately 20 GWh of batteries over five years, from 2026 to 2031.
Reports estimate the order’s value at nearly 4 trillion Korean won (around $3 billion US). SK On noted on its official website that it will supply high-nickel NCM (nickel-cobalt-manganese) batteries to Slate, which will be produced at its US facilities.
