On January 18, 2025, Shenzhen Dynanonic announced that it had reached an agreement with ICL Group, a global leader in specialty minerals, to jointly establish a lithium-ion battery materials factory in the town of Salient, located in the Catalonia region of Spain.
According to a statement released by Dynanonic’s board of directors, the initial investment in the plant will be 285 million euros (approximately $298.5 million US). Dynanonic will hold a 20% stake in the venture, while ICL Group will own the remaining 80%. Spain’s El País newspaper reports that the facility, covering an area of approximately 100,000 square meters, will be the first in the region to produce LFP batteries.
