On June 18, SEMCORP announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SEMCORP Hungary Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság (“SEMCORP Hungary Kft.”), is the main entity investing in the construction of the second-phase wet-process lithium battery separator film production line and supporting factory in Debrecen, Hungary.

The project focuses on manufacturing and selling wet-process base films and functional coating separator films for lithium batteries. The plan includes four fully automated separator film production lines and corresponding coating lines, with a total capacity of approximately 800 million square meters per year. The total investment for the project is estimated to be about 447 million euros, which includes construction costs of approximately 165 million euros, machinery and equipment costs of approximately 192 million euros, and initial working capital of approximately 90 million euros. And the investment was funded through the company’s own funds and self-raised capital.

The company stated that the implementation of the Hungary Phase II project will help meet the growing demand for lithium battery separators in the European market, reduce risks related to international trade policies and tariffs, expand business in Europe and other overseas markets, and play a crucial role in the company’s internationalization strategy.
