Recently, the South Korean research firm SNE Research released global battery installation statistics for the first quarter of this year, showing a total global battery installation of 158.8GWh, a 22% year-on-year increase.

In the first quarter of this year, the top two companies of the rank were both Chinese enterprises.

CATL’s battery installation increased by 31.9% year-on-year to 60.1GWh, with its market share growing by nearly 3 percentage points to 37.9%, ranking first globally. With this, CATL has maintained its position as the world’s largest battery supplier for electric vehicles for seven consecutive years.

BYD’s battery installation surpassed LG Energy Solution, growing by 11.9% to 22.7GWh, securing the second position.

It is worth mentioning that in the global installation rankings for January and February this year, BYD was briefly overtaken by LG Energy Solution, slipping to the third position.

SNE Research attributed BYD’s slight decline in rank to the off-season in the Chinese automotive market during the Spring Festival holiday, suggesting that the first-quarter data for 2024 will more accurately reflect the situation of global battery companies.
