It is reported that Panasonic is considering additional investments to build new production lines at its De Soto factory in Kansas, which is internally referred to as Phase 3. It is speculated that these new production lines will supply 4,680 batteries for Tesla.

Nikkei Asia quoted an insider as saying that the scale of the additional investment would be similar to Panasonic’s current investment in the De Soto factory, which is about $4 billion. However, it is also reported that the plan for additional investment is still in the early stage, and a final decision on Phase 3 is expected to be made by the end of this year.
