South Korean battery manufacturer LG Energy Solutions has announced it has signed an agreement to supply electric vehicle batteries to subsidiaries of Mercedes-Benz in North America and other regions.

The company stated in a regulatory filing that it will provide 50.5 GWh of batteries to Mercedes-Benz between 2028 and 2038, though the contract amount cannot be disclosed at this time.

Mercedes-Benz is LG Energy Solutions’ second major customer this year, following Renault.

As reported by Reuters in July, LG Energy Solutions and CATL will supply lithium iron phosphate batteries to Renault Group’s electric vehicle division, Ampere, with LG Energy Solutions contributing 3.9 GWh.

This marks LG Energy Solutions’ first order since entering the lithium iron phosphate battery market, indicating the official launch of its lithium iron phosphate batteries.
