On April 8, Putailai announced that its controlling subsidiary, Katop Automation Europe GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “KATOP”), had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany’s MOLL Batterien GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “MOLL”). The two parties will collaborate throughout the entire lifecycle of MOLL’s sodium-ion battery factory project in Germany, covering OEM services, equipment supply and services, and material supply.

According to the plan, MOLL will construct a sodium-ion battery plant in Germany between 2025 and 2026, focusing on energy storage applications. The factory will be located in Lichtenfels, Germany, with a targeted annual production capacity of 500MWh to 1GWh.

Under the MoU, KATOP will provide MOLL with process design for battery electrode manufacturing, electrode processing equipment, electrode samples, and other equipment required for battery prototyping. Additionally, it will offer services including R&D for sample equipment, production equipment development and supply, technical personnel training, and after-sales support.

Furthermore, leveraging the support of its parent company Putailai, KATOP will supply MOLL with various materials needed for sodium-ion battery production, including anode materials, separator materials, binders, current collectors, and aluminum-plastic packaging films.
