Batteries:
According to China’s research and consulting firm ICC Xinluo’s data, global lithium-ion battery production reached 173 GWh in May 2025, up 44.4% year-on-year (YoY). Cumulative output from January to May stood at 812.74 GWh, surging 62.44% YoY.
Energy Storage:
Global energy storage battery production hit 45.3 GWh in May 2025, a 62.6% YoY increase. The cumulative output for the first five months reached 190.57 GWh, surging 114% YoY.
LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate):
Global LFP production totaled 295,400 tonnes in May, up 41.9% YoY. The January-May output reached 1.3076 million tonnes, rising 62.56% YoY.
Ternary Materials:
Global ternary cathode material output was 76,200 tonnes in May, down 5.3% YoY. Cumulative production for the period fell 9.5% YoY to 366,100 tonnes.
Ternary Precursors:
Ternary precursor production declined 4.8% YoY to 77,600 tonnes in May. The five-month total dropped 8.93% YoY to 372,100 tonnes.
Lithium Manganate (LMO):
China’s LMO output fell 2.6% YoY to 12,500 tonnes in May, with cumulative production down 2% YoY to 53,400 tonnes.
Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LCO):
China’s LCO production rose 22.8% YoY to 9,500 tonnes in May. The January-May volume grew 23.95% YoY to 41,400 tonnes.
Anode Materials:
Global anode material output reached 222,600 tonnes in May, up 20.5% YoY. Cumulative production climbed 32.64% YoY to 1.0511 million tonnes.
Electrolyte:
Global electrolyte production grew 24.8% YoY to 170,000 tonnes in May. The five-month total rose 46.49% YoY to 812,600 tonnes.
Separators:
Global separator output expanded 22% YoY to 2.514 billion square meters in May. Cumulative production increased 38.32% YoY to 11.677 billion square meters.
