Recently, media outlets including Reuters reported that ElectroMobility Poland (EMP), a state-backed electric vehicle company, and Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group) have officially announced a strategic partnership to jointly establish an EV research, development and production hub in Jaworzno, southern Poland.

The collaboration includes the creation of an integrated facility in Jaworzno, which will feature not only a complete automotive production line (body shop, paint shop, battery pack and e-drive system assembly, and final assembly), but also an R&D centre focused on software, data analytics, and digital mobility solutions.

Foxconn will provide its modular EV platform through its subsidiary, Foxtron, and share expertise in vehicle development, engineering capabilities, and digital systems, with the goal of building an “AI-enabled” manufacturing plant.

Poland, the fifth most populous country in Europe, has a well-developed automotive industry but lacks a homegrown passenger car brand. Against the backdrop of growing European demand, the cooperation aims to create a leading EV manufacturer. The project plans to develop a new European brand based on the earlier “Izera” project, with the first three models targeted at the European market.

Why Foxconn? EMP CEO Cyprian Gronkiewicz stated that Foxconn’s combination of industrial scale and technological depth was the decisive factor. Additionally, Foxconn’s commitment to technology transfer, helping Poland build independent vehicle design capabilities, and fostering the local supply chain is crucial.

The two sides are currently negotiating specific details, including the possible formation of a joint venture, with the goal of signing a binding agreement in the second half of 2026.
