Recently, Envision Energy Storage’s Welkin Road energy storage project in the UK successfully passed the comprehensive G99 grid compliance tests (including 100% Voltage Change Test, Frequency Response Test, and Reactive Capacity Test), marking the project’s successful delivery and grid connection.
Located in Stockport, the Welkin Road project is funded by the UK’s Masdar Arlington Energy, with Envision Energy Storage providing the full suite of battery energy storage system solutions. This achievement represents another milestone for Envision in the UK market.
It not only signifies a key technical breakthrough for its products entering the UK and broader European markets but also further demonstrates Envision’s robust grid integration capabilities and technological leadership in the global energy storage sector.
Leveraging its fully self-developed technology stack spanning battery cells, BMS, PCS, and EMS, Envision Energy Storage achieves high system-level coordination and rapid response. Its smart energy storage system, equipped with a high-performance PCS control platform, enables millisecond-level grid status identification and feedback, ensuring the power station meets the G99-mandated response efficiency and power quality stability under various operating conditions.
Regarding safety, Envision has established a three-tier protection architecture – “Cell-Pack-System” – integrated with pack-level intelligent fire suppression, comprehensively meeting reliability and safety specifications and successfully passing the G99 tests.
Envision Energy Storage’s footprint in the UK market is becoming increasingly established. Previously, several of its UK projects, including Wormald Green and Hawthorn Pit, have commenced smooth operation. In mid-this year, Envision further partnered with UK clean energy company Field to supply a total of 200 MWh LFP battery energy storage systems for the Holmston and Drum Farm projects.
With its fully self-developed technologies, smart solutions, and extensive global delivery experience, Envision is establishing a leading image for Chinese energy storage brands expanding internationally.
Amid the rapid global development of new energy, Envision will continue to expand its deployment in the international energy storage market, contributing to building a sustainable global green energy ecosystem.
To date, Envision Energy Storage has participated in over 300 projects globally, cumulatively delivering more than 30 GWh of capacity. This includes large-scale storage projects like the Singapore Jurong Island project and the UK’s Wormald Green project, with current orders on hand exceeding 50 GWh.
