On January 13, it was reported that Saudi Electricity Company recently awarded contracts for a series of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with a total installed capacity of 2.5GW/12.5GWh, spread across multiple locations throughout Saudi Arabia. BYD successfully won the bid and will be responsible for the design, supply, installation supervision, testing and commissioning, as well as ongoing maintenance of the battery systems. The projects BYD won include five major regions in Saudi Arabia, with a total capacity of 2.5GW/12.5GWh. The distribution of the storage projects is as follows:
Riyadh: 500MW/2500MWh
Qaisumah: 500MW/2500MWh
Dawadmi: 500MW/2500MWh
Al Jouf: 500MW/2500MWh
Rabigh: 500MW/2500MWh
