Recently, Chinese research institution EVTank, in collaboration with China YiWei Institute, of Economics released “A Report on China Cylindrical Battery Industry Development(2025)”. According to the data, global shipments of 18650 cylindrical lithium-ion batteries reached 5.9 billion units in 2024, accounting for 46.1% of total cylindrical battery shipments.
EVTank revealed in the report the top 10 global manufacturers of 18650 cylindrical lithium-ion batteries in 2024, with Chinese company EVE Energy securing the top position. Other companies entering the global top 10 include DMEGC, Samsung SDI (SDI), Tenpower, LG Energy Solution (LGES), Sunpower, MurataJapan, Panasonic, Highstar, and BAK.

The report highlights the continued dominance of 18650 cylindrical batteries in the global market while emphasizing Chinese manufacturers’ growing competitiveness in the lithium-ion battery industry chain.
